Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has expressed his disappointment with the recent performances of the Black Stars.
Okraku is eager to see the national team make a strong comeback after their disappointing showings in two friendlies held in the United States earlier this month.
Under the guidance of Chris Hughton, the team suffered defeats in both matches, losing 2-0 to Mexico and enduring a heavy 4-0 defeat to the United States in Tennessee. These games exposed the team's vulnerabilities, particularly in defense and attack, with only two shots on target in a total of 180 minutes of play.
Criticism has been widespread following these games, with Hughton, the players, and even Okraku himself facing scrutiny.
In a Facebook post, Okraku openly admitted, "Our Black Stars must rise again, but I'm a disturbed servant."
The Black Stars aim to bounce back next month as they prepare to face Madagascar and Comoros in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Following that, they will head to Ivory Coast for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to commence in January 2024. In the group stage, the Black Stars will face formidable opponents, including record holders Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
