Patrick Kpozo, a defender based in Moldova, believes that the condition of the pitch affected the performance of the Black Stars in their 0-0 draw against Madagascar during the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The 25-year-old played the entire match at the Stade Barea Mahamasina in Antananarivo on Sunday. He was given the opportunity to start due to injuries to regular players Baba Rahman and Gideon Mensah.
After the game, Kpozo attributed the team's inability to secure a victory to the poor quality of the pitch in Madagascar.
"Very proud and happy to make my Debut for the Nation team unfortunately it came as a draw this isn’t what we wanted played on a bad surface and difficult to play next game we will surely put a smile on the face of Ghanaian," he wrote on Facebook.
During the season, Kpozo made 24 appearances in all competitions for FC Sheriff Tiraspol, the champions of Moldova.
Kpozo enjoyed a successful season, winning both the Moldovan Cup and Premier League titles with his team.
Despite the draw against Madagascar, Ghana remains at the top of the group with 9 points from five games. They have one more match to play in September against the Central African Republic in Kumasi.
