Highly-rated South African coach Pitso Mosimane has submitted an application for the vacant Black Stars coaching role as the Ghana Football Association continues its search for a new manager ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The position became available following the dismissal of Otto Addo after Ghana’s disappointing performances in the March international window, where the team suffered defeats to Austria and Germany.

Mosimane, brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record, having managed several top clubs across Africa and the Middle East like Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Al-Ahli Jeddah, Al Wahda, Abha Club and Esteghlal FC.

The 59-year-old is widely respected for his success on the continental stage, notably winning the CAF Champions League with Sundowns and later securing back-to-back titles with Al Ahly, cementing his reputation as one of Africa’s elite coaches.

Mosimane has been without a coaching role since early 2025 but remains a highly sought-after figure, with his name now firmly in contention as Ghana evaluates options for a quick and effective appointment.

Ghana are set to open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 18, before facing England and Croatia in what promises to be a challenging group stage.
