Captain of Asante Kotoko, Richard Boadu has admitted he was very elated to be named the club's captain prior to the start of last season and added he hopes to achieve something great with the team.
The 25 year old had an outstanding season as usual, just as he's been for the past two Ghana Premier League campaigns
He made 30 league appearances and enjoyed two outings in the CAF Champions League with two goals and an assist in the 2022/23 season.
His performance wasn't enough to lift Kotoko's ante to defend the league, having finished fourth despite a string of poor results at some part of the campaign.
Speaking on Kessben FM, the combative middleman says he is captain with being handed the captaincy but admitted it hasn't been easy but still play his heart out to achieve greatness in the red shirt.
"Being a Kotoko player itself is not easy. So, I was very happy when I was appointed captain of the side. It’s now in the records,”
"At some point it’s scary because it comes with additional responsibility and pressure. As a player who was focused on handling that responsibility, I was okay with it because I wanted to do something to prove that I could do something great for Kotoko,” he added.
Richard Boadu played a vital role in helping the Porcupine Warriors end their almost eight abeyance to win the league in 2022.
