Former Ghanaian midfielder Derek Boateng has strongly criticized the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the poor performances of the national teams in recent major tournaments.

Boateng, who previously played for Getafe CF, believes that the GFA bears responsibility for the current predicaments of the national teams.

He argues that the GFA exerts significant control over player selection in the national teams, and this interference is hindering their performance.

"The FA owns a lot of players in the national teams and that's why we don't perform. When CK was there, the FA were telling him the kind of players he should call and when things didn't go well they kicked him out," he expressed.

Ghana's national teams have struggled in recent tournaments. The senior men's team finished in the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar also ended in disappointment.

Furthermore, Ghana's Black Galaxies failed to make an impact at the 2023 Africa Nations Championship in Algeria, while the Black Meteors were eliminated in the group stages of the 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco.

Boateng's criticism highlights his concerns about the influence of the GFA on player selection and its impact on the performance of the national teams in crucial competitions.
