The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has denied reports circulating that the President Kurt Okraku had a meeting with a 'supposed' German coach concerning the Black Stars, tagging the reportage as 'fictitious and misleading' urging the public to ignore them.
In recent times there has been speculation that the FA is in line to name a new coach, following the abysmal performance by the Black Stars in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The rumors gained ground after Okraku's recent trip to Germany. In regard to that, the GFA issued a statement on Tuesday - clarifying that the trip was solely for discussions with representatives of Puma, the Black Stars official kit sponsor, to explore areas of mutual interest and strengthen their partnership.
"The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken note of false reports being circulated that the Association has met a German coach and is negotiating remuneration with him. The Association wishes to state clearly that the reports are entirely false," the statement read.
“We respectfully urge the media and the general public to disregard these unfounded rumours and refrain from spreading them,” it added.
The Black Stars of Ghana will return to action this month (November) with crucial must-win hurdles against Angola and Niger, as Ghana fights to earn qualification, despite slim chances. Sudan only needs a draw from their remaining two games to secure their spot.
