Frederick Acheampong, an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed his support for increased investments in sports infrastructure.

His stance follows the Deputy Sports Minister, Evans Opoku Bobie, commending the quality of Morocco's football complex, the King Mohammed VI Complex, during the participation of the Black Meteors in the ongoing U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

During an interview, Mr. Acheampong, who served as the Chairman of the Black Meteors Management Committee, emphasized the significance of sports infrastructure in nurturing young talents for the country.

“I agree with people who say that we lack infrastructure; I think we need to develop infrastructure well," he told Citi Sports.

"As for talent everyone has it in the world. I saw Hearts of Oak sign a player from the Central African Republic it tells you that everyone has the talent.

“So what you need to do is unearth it, to develop it and we need infrastructure so that’s an area we need to pay particular attention to” he added

The construction of sports facilities is currently underway for the Africa Games scheduled to take place in Ghana in March 2024. This development could provide some relief to the existing situation and help address the infrastructure needs in the country.
