Coach Winfred Dormon’s Dreams FC will look to bounce back when they welcome Nations FC to the Tuba Astroturf on Saturday afternoon, in what promises to be a lively matchweek six encounter in the Ghana Premier League.

The Still Believe lads were left frustrated last weekend after falling 2-1 to Medeama SC in Tarkwa, while Nations FC head into the clash aiming to build on their recent win and climb further up the table.

Match Preview

From the highs of a solitary victory to the lows of a four-game winless run, Dreams FC are desperate to rediscover their spark as the early-season rhythm slips away. Their last home fixture ended in a tense draw, but the Tuba side know that another poor outing could see them drift towards the bottom half of the table.

Defensive lapses have proven costly for Dormon’s men, with the side conceding late (seven) goals in consecutive matches. However, their attack led by the tireless Charles Bartels and Jonathan Nemorden has shown flashes of brilliance, hinting that consistency rather than quality has been their undoing.

On the other hand, Nations FC, meanwhile, arrive with confidence after a gritty 0-0 scoreless stalemate in their last outing. Coach Kasim Mingle’s men have demonstrated a knack for grinding out results, even if their performances have lacked inspiration at times. The Abrankese-based side are currently 12th on the league table but could climb up further with a positive result.

Head-to-head, the two teams have met five times, with Dreams FC claiming victory on two occasions, while Nations FC have had the upper hand three times, making this weekend’s encounter a tight, unpredictable contest.

Both teams are evenly matched in quality, though Dreams’ home advantage and Nations’ strong defensive shape set the stage for a finely balanced showdown.

Team News

Dreams FC

Coach Dormon is expected to make minimal changes despite last week’s defeat. Midfield anchor Emmanuel Danquah could be restored to a deeper role to shield the defence, while Yaovi Chris Guede is likely to retain his place after impressing in training.

Defender Christian Owusu is pushing to start again after scoring Dreams’ only goal against Medeama, and goalkeeper Gidios Aseako remains between the sticks as the club’s undisputed number one shot-stopper.

Nations FC

For the visitors, captain Razak Simpson is set to marshal the backline alongside Samuel Kuffour, with Kelvin Ampoful returning to strengthen the midfield.

In attack, Richard Danso and Emmanuel Annor are expected to provide wideness and creativity behind lone striker Faruk Mohammed, while goalkeeper Hadina Bariu continues to impress with his shot-stopping reflexes.

Dreams FC possible starting lineup:

Gidios Aseako (GK); Yaro Isaac, Izdeen Mohammed, Kuma Kofi, Ernest Appiah; Ebenezer Adade (C), Adams Aminu, Yaovi Chris Guede; Christian Owusu, Jonathan Nemorden, Seidu Suraj.

Nations FC possible starting lineup:

Hadina Bariu (GK); Razak Simpson (C), Samuel Kuffour, Raymond Oko Grippmann; Kelvin Ampoful, Evans Sarfo, Prince Badu, Martin Akolgo; Emmanuel Annor, Richard Danso; Faruk Mohammed.

We say: Dreams FC 2-1 Nations FC

Dreams’ home comfort could prove crucial in what looks set to be a cagey affair. Expect Jonathan Nemorden to open the scoring with a clinical first-half finish, before Faruk Mohammed levels things for Nations FC in-between through the second half.

However, Seidu Suraj may emerge as the hero late on, striking home a dramatic winner to hand Dreams FC their first victory of the season.
