Medeama are still moving up the Ghana Premier League table, and coach Ibrahim Tanko says the team is hoping to reach first place by the end of the first round. Their next challenge is a difficult away match against Heart of Lions.
Medeama have been playing steadily in recent weeks, getting two wins and three draws from their last five games. This good run has helped them stay close to the top teams as the season moves into the festive period.
With enrgy gradually building, Tanko insists the objective is clear, to finish the first round at the summit.
“It’s not going to be easy but I’m sure the boys are ready to also take the fight on,” Tanko told Medeama TV. “We are doing our best and we hope we will be at the top of the table at the end of the first round.”
Heart of Lions, however, present a stern test on home turf.
The 'Dzie Woa Nu' have become known for being strong and hard to beat at home, and Medeama know that small details, like staying focused in defence and taking their chances in attack could make the difference in the match.
Tanko’s players are likely to play with patience and good organisation, as they will try to control important moments in the match and make the most of any chances they get to score.
The match, which will be played on December 27 at the Kpando Stadium, could be very important for Medeama’s aim of reaching the top of the table, as the team continues to stay focused and calm in a very competitive first round.
