Hearts of Oak's head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has given a candid assessment of the Ghana Premier League, describing it as one of the most challenging leagues in West Africa.

In an interview with Happy FM, Ouattara shared his thoughts on the league's competitiveness.

"The Ghana Premier League is tough," he said. "You can see that even the two biggest teams in Ghana are struggling to survive. I believe it's one of the toughest leagues in West Africa. It's a good league, and maybe someday, another country could replicate its intensity."

Ouattara's comments come as no surprise, given the team's own struggles in the 2023/24 season. Accra Hearts of Oak had to fight hard to avoid relegation, ultimately securing a 14th-place finish without any silverware.

Despite the challenges, the team is not dwelling on past struggles. Instead, they are focusing on strengthening their squad with new players in preparation for the 2024/25 season.

For now, their immediate focus is on the upcoming Democracy Cup, where they will face off against their arch-rivals, Asante Kotoko.
