Asante Kotoko coach, Abdul Karim Zito has debunked allegations that there is a conflict of interest between attacking pair Albert Amoah and Kwame Opoku.
In recent times, fans have claimed that there is schism between the two goal poachers over exaggerated selfishness during matches.
The wild allegations erupted when Opoku failed to connect on a pass to Amoah to notch in their slim victory over Aduana Stars.
Meanwhile, a similar occurrence happened last weekend during their goalless draw with Hearts of Oak where Amoah couldn't connect a pass to Opoku.
However, Coach Zito has squashed claims of rivalry - insisting that although both players are self-centred and want to score for the Porcupine Warriors and feel important, they have a great relationship on the field of play.
“During our first match [against Aduana Stars], Amoah should have given the ball to Opoku, and today too, look at what has happened. I think it’s not about rivalry, it’s about lack of focus and self-centeredness. Everybody wants to score to feel important, and that’s why in Europe they attach much importance to assists. So it’s not rivalry but rather self-centeredness,” Coach Zito told the media after the Super Clash on Sunday.
