Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has lauded head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum for transforming his game and playing a pivotal role in his development as a player.
The 22-year-old striker, who joined the Porcupine Warriors from Great Olympics during the summer transfer window, has enjoyed a remarkable debut season, scoring seven goals in 12 Ghana Premier League appearances.
Amoah’s most recent heroics came in the Super Clash against Hearts of Oak, where he capitalized on a late defensive mix-up between Kelvin Osei Asibey and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare to score the match-winner in injury time. His decisive strike not only sealed victory for Kotoko but also underlined his growing influence within the team.
Reflecting on his impressive rise, Amoah credited coach Prosper Narteh Ogum for recognizing his potential and helping him elevate his game.
“I owe a lot to Coach Ogum. I never imagined I would play for Kotoko, but he believed in me. Back in SHS, during the regionals, he coached me as a midfielder. He’s known me for a long time, and when he brought me to Kotoko, I made a vow not to let him down,” Amoah said.
“His guidance has been instrumental. He pushes me hard in training, and I can see the results on the pitch,” he added.
Amoah is now a strong contender for the Ghana Premier League goal king title. He currently sits second in the top-scorers race, trailing Nations FC’s Faisal Charwetey, who leads with eight goals.
As Kotoko chase domestic success, Amoah will look to maintain his scoring form and continue contributing to the team’s resurgence in the league.
