Dreams FC head coach Karim Zito is confident in his team's strategy to thwart Asante Kotoko in their matchday 14 Ghana Premier League clash, set for Saturday, December 21, at the Tuba AstroTurf in Kasoa.
Zito praised Kotoko for their technical and physical prowess, acknowledging the challenge they present but stressing that his players are highly motivated when facing top-tier opponents.
Speaking at a media briefing, Zito emphasized the need for a tactical approach to stop Kotoko’s attack. "We all saw Kotoko against Hearts of Oak. Tactically and technically, they are very sound. Physically, they are very strong," Zito said. "We have to draw up a strategy, figure out how to stop them, and then make an impact after stopping them."
Zito explained that simply halting Kotoko's attack won't be enough. "It's not just about stopping them. You need to stop them and then find ways to get free to play and make meaningful moves. We have to track them and create space to play."
While he acknowledged Kotoko's strength, Zito emphasized that his team must respect them as a big club but remain focused on the task at hand. "We have to give them the necessary respect outside the game, but in the game, we know we are playing Kotoko. It's a big game for us."
Dreams FC has a solid record against Kotoko from last season, achieving a double over the Porcupine Warriors, winning both matches without conceding a goal. Despite this, the club has struggled this season, currently sitting second from bottom with just 12 points from 12 matches, having secured only two victories. Zito will be hoping his side can replicate last season's success and secure a much-needed win.
