Asante Kotoko have initiated negotiations to re-sign former goalkeeper Razak Abalora as the January transfer window approaches.

Abalora, who has recently returned to Ghana, has emerged as a strong candidate to replace Mohammed Camara, whose future with the club remains uncertain. Reports indicate that the Guinean international, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has opted not to extend his stay as he seeks a new challenge elsewhere.

With Camara potentially departing, the two-time CAF Champions League winners are keen on securing the services of Abalora, who has been maintaining his fitness with lower-tier side Nania FC.

The 29-year-old previously joined Kotoko in 2020, spending two years at the club before moving to Moldovan giants Sheriff Tiraspol. He later played for FC Petrocub Hincesti, helping them win the Moldovan top-flight title in 2024.

After leaving Albanian outfit AF Elbasani in August 2025, Abalora signed a short-term deal with FK Zhenis Astana in Kazakhstan. With his contract set to expire next month, the former WAFA graduate has already returned home and resumed training.

During his first spell with Kotoko, Abalora made 36 appearances, conceded 24 goals, and kept an impressive 18 clean sheets. His experience and proven quality make him a strong option for the Porcupine Warriors should a return be finalized.

Abalora made his Ghana debut in 2020 and has earned four caps for the Black Stars.
