Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes that Asante Kotoko will quickly recover from their surprising 2-1 defeat to Legon Cities.
This loss marked the Porcupine Warriors' first of the season, occurring at the University of Ghana Stadium on Wednesday.
Legon Cities, desperate for redemption after a rough start to the campaign that included five losses and two draws, delivered a stunning performance against Kotoko to secure their first win of the season. Albert Yeboah opened the scoring for Legon Cities in the first half, putting Kotoko on the back foot. Although Albert Moh managed to equalize for Kotoko in the 72nd minute, Abdul Rhaman struck late in stoppage time to clinch the victory for Legon Cities.
Despite the disappointing outcome, Agyemang-Badu, who attended the match, praised Kotoko's overall performance this season. "I’ve watched a lot of games, and Kotoko have been playing well. Unfortunately, they lost today, but one loss in eight games isn’t bad; they still have a lot of room for improvement," he remarked. He also noted that injuries have affected the team but expressed optimism about the recovery of key players: "Kotoko have injuries, but some players are recovering; they’ll get better."
Currently positioned second in the league standings with 15 points, Kotoko will aim to regroup and regain their winning form when they host Hearts of Lions on November 3.
