Deputy Captain of Asante Kotoko, Richmond Nii Lamptey has blamed the team's recent mediocre performance on fear.
The Porcupine Warriors paid a visit to the monarch of the Asante Kingdom, having engrossed in a crunch meeting with the technical handlers and the players in April after a bad start in the second half of the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
After the meeting, the Porcupine Warriors have recorded two wins, two draws and two losses in their last six games played.
Lamptey, who has not featured for Asante Kotoko for an extended period due to injury, feels that the fear of being criticized overcame the players which made them not to perform and annex good results.
“After we visited Opemsuo, by God’s grace, things have changed for us,” Lamptey said in an interview with Asempa FM.
“Kotoko is a team when you are playing here you don’t play with it. You have to be very serious.
"I have seen that there was some fear that has overcome the boys and how Kotoko is, when a defeat comes, the fans will talk. But now, the boys have overcome the fear," the silky midfielder concluded.
Asante Kotoko will come up against Berekum Chelsea this weekend at the Golden City Park in a crunch match-week 30 fixture in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
