The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has imposed sanctions on Hearts of Oak assistant coach Gazale Abdulai following his involvement in an unsavoury incident during the club’s Ghana Premier League encounter with Medeama SC.

After reviewing reports and evidence related to the matchday occurrence, the Committee ruled that Abdulai engaged in misconduct, having been found culpable of assaulting a ball retriever in the course of the game.

As a result, the Hearts of Oak coach has been suspended for three league matches, fined GH₵5,000, and issued a formal caution regarding his future conduct.

The suspension takes immediate effect, ruling Abdulai out of the Phobians’ technical setup for their next three competitive league fixtures — a significant blow as the club navigates a crucial phase of the season.

In addition, the GFA has directed that the imposed fine must be settled within 14 days of the official communication of the decision. Any failure to comply, the Association warned, could lead to further disciplinary action.

The incident, which attracted considerable attention after the match, was deemed a violation of the GFA Disciplinary Code, particularly sections that safeguard match officials and auxiliary personnel such as ball retrievers, who play an essential role in match operations.
