During the 30th Ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday, President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku unveiled a significant new policy designed to enhance the promotion of matches in the country's higher-tier leagues.
In his address, Simeon-Okraku announced that pre-match and post-match press conferences will now be mandatory for all clubs participating in official competitions, particularly in Ghana's top-tier leagues.
He emphasized the critical role these press conferences play in fostering communication and engagement with the media and fans.
"Pre- and post-match press conferences will be mandatory for all clubs, and those that fail to comply will face severe penalties," Simeon-Okraku declared.
This initiative is part of the GFA's broader strategy to improve the organization and presentation of football matches in Ghana. The goal is to ensure that all stakeholders, including the media, fans, and sponsors, are better informed and more engaged with the sport.
The directive is set to take effect in the upcoming 2024/25 football season, requiring clubs to prepare to host these conferences before and after each match. The GFA will closely monitor compliance and enforce penalties as needed to ensure the policy's effective implementation.
