In response to the recent outbreak of hooliganism during the Premier League match between Bofoakwa Tano FC and Nsoatreman FC, the Ghana Football Association's Disciplinary Committee (DC) has taken decisive action, imposing a three-match home ban and a substantial GHS20,000 fine on Bofoakwa Tano.
The sanctions were levied due to what the committee deemed as "various degrees of misconduct" during the intense clash at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
Bofoakwa Tano FC faced charges on three counts for breaching Article 16(1)(c), Article 16(2)(b), Article 16(2)(a), and Article 16(2)(f) in the said match.
After a thorough review of the defense presented by Bofoakwa Tano FC, along with the evidence and match recordings, the DC found the club guilty on all charges and implemented appropriate sanctions.
The DC further ruled that the Ghana Football Association should provide financial support to Coach of Nsoatreman FC, Maxwell Konadu, and Referee Robert Musey, who were attacked by officials and supporters of Bofoakwa Tano FC.
Individual officials of Bofoakwa Tano FC, including Ernest Adu (Massage Therapist), Abubakari Mohammed (Team Manager), Isaac Tannor (Physiotherapist), and Seidu Manan (Welfare Manager), have each been handed match bans and fined GHc2000 for physically assaulting the match officials.
Additionally, player Bright Boakye has received a two-match ban with immediate effect and a fine of GHc2000 for breaching Article 12(1)(i) and Article 12(1)(k) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.
