Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz has arrived in Ghana to officially begin his role as new head coach of the Black Stars.
He was welcomed by a large number of supporters at the Kotoka International Airport tomorrow, April 23, at the Alisa Hotel.
The Portuguese tactician was appointed to replace Otto Addo following Ghana’s defeats to Austria and Germany during the March international window. His arrival marks a key step in the country’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz is expected to begin work immediately alongside his backroom staff, with reports indicating that he is arriving with about five technical team members. Some members of the existing setup are likely to make way as the new coach reshapes the team’s structure.
Among those expected to join him are trusted assistant Roger De Sa, goalkeepers’ coach Daniel Gaspar and opposition scout Pierre Bazie, all of whom are set to play key roles in the technical team.
As part of official protocol, the Ghana Football Association is also expected to present Queiroz to Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports, following his unveiling.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
