Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt E.S. Okraku says the domestic topflight league matches will increasingly be positioned as premium content under the GFA’s new strategic direction aimed at driving long-term growth and sustainability in Ghanaian football.
Speaking during the unveiling of a new partnership with Adesa Production Limited for the 2025/26 season, Okraku emphasized the GFA’s intent to transform the Ghana Premier League into a commercially viable product.
“Our matches will no longer just be games,” he said. “They will be high-value content, capable of being marketed, broadcast, and monetized to support the long-term growth of the clubs.”
Okraku's remarks come amid broader efforts by the GFA to professionalize league operations, enhance media rights value, and increase revenue opportunities for participating clubs.
Under the new deal, each Premier League club is set to receive GH₵1 million ahead of the upcoming campaign, with additional performance-based incentives planned throughout the season.
Okraku, who also serves as Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), said the move aligns with regional efforts to elevate local leagues and reduce reliance on external funding.
The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to begin on the weekend of September 12.
