Following Hearts of Oak's 2-0 win against Nations FC, head coach Aboubakar Ouattara emphasized the team's focus on maintaining their Premier League status by the end of the season.

The victory, secured through goals from Kassim Cisse and Hamza Issah at the Accra Sports Stadium, marked a crucial return to winning ways for Hearts. The team, previously in 15th place with 38 points, has now climbed to 11th on the table, injecting renewed optimism into their remaining two Premier League matches.

Speaking to StarTimes, Ouattara expressed satisfaction with the three points and stressed the importance of focusing on the next match, a local derby against struggling Great Olympics.

"We got the three points, and that’s the important thing. Now, we are thinking about the next match," he stated.

Despite the victory, Ouattara acknowledged the challenges faced, including injuries and a resilient opponent in Nations FC. He emphasized the team's commitment to survival, recognizing the importance of support from the fans.

“The second half was very tough. We had some many problems like the injury. Nations are playing well but fortunately, we got the two goals early which was good for us. We tried to keep the ball but it wasn’t easy”

Asked whether he was specifically satisfied with his boys’ performance, he said; "They played for them (fans) but first of all, we are trying to survive because when you look at all these people (fans) coming to support us, it’s not easy. The family love their club, and that’s what we are coming together to try to save the family," he explained.

Hearts of Oak's upcoming fixtures include an away match against Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium in week 33, followed by a trip to Bechem United for the final game of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
