Kwame Opare Addo, Communications Director of Hearts of Oak, has voiced his disappointment after the Phobians fell 1–0 to eternal rivals Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s fierce Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Morifing Donzo struck in the first half to hand Kotoko the crucial win, ending Hearts’ unbeaten start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League and leaving their fans heartbroken after a spirited performance.
Speaking to Asempa FM after the game, Opare Addo admitted the loss was a bitter pill to swallow but insisted that the team remains strong and focused on the bigger picture.
“We didn’t get the three points we were hoping for, but there are a lot of games to be played. I must admit that it’s painful, but we have a good squad, and we will continue to fight together with our fans,” he stated.
The club spokesperson called for calm and unity among the fanbase, urging supporters not to lose faith in the team despite the defeat.
“We all went through it together, and our goal was to finish the game on a positive note,” Opare Addo added. “No matter what has happened, let’s continue to support the team, I believe we will get there.”
The defeat sees Hearts of Oak drop to fifth in the standings with 16 points, as they shift focus to their next fixture, which is a Matchday 10 clash away to Swedru All Blacks this Sunday.
