Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi has expressed his concerns about his lack of football activities in recent times due to an injury setback.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who joined the Phobians before the start of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League, has been sidelined with a meniscus tear injury that may require surgery.
Speaking to Kessben FM, Ofori Antwi revealed that he will need about two months to recover if he undergoes surgery. He expressed his disappointment at not being able to participate in the ongoing season and admitted that he misses being on the pitch.
"I suffered a meniscus tear which requires surgery. It will take me about two months to recover if I undergo surgery," Ofori Antwi said. "I miss being on the pitch honestly. I always feel bad when I see my teammates playing. I'm taking inspiration from Courtois of Madrid because after a long-term injury, he returned and delivered top-class performance. I'm confident I will bounce back stronger."
Ofori Antwi's injury has been a major setback for Hearts of Oak, who had high hopes for the former Medeama and Legon Cities shot-stopper when he joined the club. Despite making a few appearances during the campaign, his injury has meant that he has been unable to contribute fully to the team's efforts.
The goalkeeper is determined to work hard on his rehabilitation and regain his form, taking inspiration from other players who have overcome similar injuries to achieve success in their careers.
