Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has advised the club's fans not to overhype their recent acquisition, Bernard Somauh after signing a three-year contract with the Reds.
At just 17 years old, Somuah has already actively participated in training sessions with the club and contributed to three of the team's pre-season friendly matches out of four. His formal inclusion within the Porcupine ranks was solidified after he satisfactorily underwent a medical assessment on Tuesday.
Displaying remarkable potential, Somuah amassed an impressive total of 22 goals for his previous club during the last season. His swift integration into the Kotoko environment has rapidly endeared him to fans, leaving a notable impression through his appearances in three matches.
Prosper Narteh Ogum, brimming with enthusiasm, enthusiastically welcomes the addition of this skilled goal threat to his squad as they gear up for the approaching season. Dr. Ogum's positive outlook shines through as he remarks,“He’s a brilliant player, and he has all the qualities of a modern-day winger," Dr Ogum told scasantekotoko.com. He has hunger for goals, a vision to see the dangers around him, and use space.
Recognizing Somuah's exceptional technical abilities, Dr. Ogum articulates his unwavering faith in the club's acquisition of latent talent. Despite this, he underscores the significance of maintaining discipline, encouraging supporters not to inflate their expectations excessively. Instead, he appeals for their unwavering support, affording the young player the space to mature and thrive.
"Somuah is technically gifted, and all he needs is to remain disciplined, and I am confident that Kotoko has gotten a real talent," he noted.
While fostering an atmosphere of patience among fans, Dr. Ogum envisions a bright future for Somuah. He underscores the importance of the dedicated backing from the team's supporters, underscoring that the player's development will be optimally nurtured through their encouragement.
"I will plead with the fans to have patience for him and not to overhype him, but to support him and see what the future holds for us.”
