Former Asante Kotoko player and General Manager, Samuel Opoku Nti, has waxed lyrical on his former club's recruitment so far and added he will be very amazed if they don't win the league next season.
The Porcupine Warriors went through a total overhaul after failing to win the championship last season having parted ways with over 20 players in what they described as poor performance.
However, the 'Kum Apem' lads are gradually re-establishing themselves and have made eleven new additions so far looking to put up a formidable side ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking in an interview on Akoma FM, Opoku Nti, whose goal won Kotoko their last CAF Champions League title in 1983, stated he is very impressed with the recruitment and will be left in a huge surprise if they are unable to emerge as league winners next season.
"I will be shocked if they (Kotoko) don't win the league, given the team they have assembled.
"These days, both individual talent and teamwork are crucial, sometimes the coach doesn't need to give orders, in those situations, you need players who are mature enough to step up and support the team when called upon, and I think that's what the current Kokoko team has.
"The additions Kotoko has made makes me extremely happy, and if this pattern keeps up, it will be a turning point.
"Considering Kotoko's rivals, I'd be shocked if Kotoko do not win the league."
The team started their preseason in Kumasi and engaged in two friendly matches and other training sessions and have now proceeded to Cape Coast to continue with their preparations.
Asante Kotoko will face Medeama SC this Friday, August 16, in a ceremonial friendly at the new TNA Stadium.
