Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has weighed in on Karim Zito’s resignation as Asante Kotoko boss, describing the decision as a common occurrence in football management.
Zito stepped down on Monday after Kotoko’s MTN FA Cup campaign came to an end at the Round of 16 stage following defeat to Aduana FC, bringing to a close a difficult spell for the club.
The Porcupine Warriors have been struggling for consistency in recent weeks, managing just one win in their last six Ghana Premier League matches. The dip in form has left the Kumasi-based side in fifth position with 35 points, just a point behind rivals Hearts of Oak as both teams prepare to face off in a crucial league encounter this weekend.
Dramani, who previously worked with Zito during their time at Kotoko, said such developments are part of the nature of the profession and urged observers to better appreciate the realities of coaching.
“It’s normal. This is not the first time he has walked off from the coaching industry, and this is not going to be the last time. It's always like that, and it's very unfortunate when people don't understand how the rudiments of the game go,” he told Joy Sports.
He further noted that coaches are often unfairly blamed for results, even though many factors influence performances on the pitch.
“Unfortunately, coaches are not responsible for the outcomes of games. But many times they are perceived to be responsible for the outcomes of games,” Dramani added.
