Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has called on the club’s supporters to remain calm and continue backing the team as he works to address their struggles this season.

The experienced tactician has come under increasing pressure following a run of mixed performances in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League. After 21 matches, the Porcupine Warriors sit fifth on the table with 35 points, although they remain active contenders in the MTN FA Cup, where they have reached the Round of 16.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Zito appealed for understanding from the fanbase, insisting that the team is still in a strong position to challenge for honours and that he remains fully committed to improving results.

“I have never been sacked as a head coach. When a club appoints me, I work and eventually move on, but this is my club and I understand the passion of the supporters,” he said.

The former Black Satellites coach stressed that the campaign is far from over, pointing out that Kotoko are still within reach of the league title with several matches remaining.

“I only ask the fans to be patient and continue to believe. We are currently fifth and the season is not finished. With 14 games left, we are still in contention for the league,” Zito added.

He also acknowledged the intense emotions surrounding the club, revealing that the pressure sometimes affects his family, but he understands the expectations that come with managing Kotoko.

“Sometimes my children are disturbed, but I explain to them that this is the nature of the job. The fans have the right to express their frustrations, but I hope they remain patient,” he noted.

Kotoko now face a crucial period, starting with their FA Cup Round of 16 clash against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium this weekend. They will then turn their attention to a highly anticipated Matchday 22 league showdown against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak the following weekend.
