Kofi Agbesimah, a seasoned defender, has expressed his elation following the successful completion of his transfer from Bechem United to Hearts of Oak.
At 26 years of age, Agbesimah has secured a three-year deal with the Phobians, concluding his tenure with the Hunters.
Despite receiving interest from Asante Kotoko SC, the newly-promoted Nations FC, and a club in Ethiopia, the experienced center-back ultimately opted to align himself with the 2000 African champions.
In a conversation with the club's media, Agbesimah openly shared his enthusiasm upon becoming a part of the Hearts of Oak family. He also took the opportunity to encourage the fans to fervently support the team in the upcoming season.
“I’m happy to join the Hearts of Oak family. The fans welcomed me well to the team and I’m extremely grateful to them. I will plead with them to continue supporting the team as we approach the new season”
Since his move to Bechem in 2018 from the lower-tier team Bectero FC, Agbesimah has remained a consistent presence in the Ghanaian top flight. Over the course of the past five Ghana League seasons, he amassed 125 appearances for the Hunters, contributing six goals.
Throughout the last three years, Agbesimah was a fixture in Bechem's lineup, participating in over 30 games each season. In the 2022-23 season, where he netted four goals, he remarkably missed only one game, aiding his team to secure a commendable third-place finish in the league standings. He also held the position of captain within the Hunters.
As the transfer window remains open until September 1, Hearts of Oak is actively engaged in bolstering their squad. Their inaugural match of the 2023/24 season will take them to Tamale, where they will face Real Tamale United.
