Former Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu has praised the Ghana Football Association’s new broadcast deal with Adesa Productions Limited, calling it “long overdue” and a much-needed step to revive the Ghana Premier League.

The agreement, announced ahead of the 2025/26 season kicking off on Sept. 6, ends a year-long spell without a television partner following the end of the GFA’s previous contract with StarTimes.

“This has been long overdue,” Konadu said at the launch. “These are the kinds of interventions that can really support our game. Once it starts, it will help a lot of youth and go a long way in sustaining clubs.”

Konadu, who has led multiple Premier League teams, highlighted the financial strain on club owners and said the deal could ease the pressure.

“It’s not easy to own and manage a Premier League team. These are the initiatives that will support club owners,” he said. “And in the end, it benefits the communities because the youth in these areas will directly gain from it.

“I believe this will help improve the average salary of the Ghanaian footballer. This is what we’ve all been advocating for. I’m happy for this initiative.”

The deal includes live broadcasts of three matches per weekend and highlights packaging for all fixtures. The GFA and Adesa aim to boost fan engagement and attract investment into the domestic top flight.
