Young Apostles goalkeeper, Frank Boateng has described the penalty given to Kotoko in their mid-week clash as a dubious one and added it’s the only reason they left Kumasi without at least a point.

The Porcupine Warriors despite handed a very tough fixture still managed to prevail with a 2-1 win in an outstanding match-day six game of the Ghana Premier League.

After a goalless first-half, Hubert Gyau set the second half ablaze with a thunderous strike to open the scoring account in the 51st minute but his lead was surprisingly levelled up by Richmond Opoku in just two minutes.

The Reds were awarded a penalty late in the game after Joseph Ablorh was pulled down in the box. Skipper Samba O’Neil took responsibility and converted nicely to win the game for the home side.

Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Kessben FM, the experienced goalie didn’t hide his emotions at all as he feels they were cheated against the giants

“The penalty awarded against us [Kotoko vs Young Apostles] was a bad call, and even the foul incident that led to the penalty was questionable. Some Ghanaian referees often manipulate our emotions.”

Young Apostles have now shifted attention to their next game against another juggernauts Hearts of Oak this weekend in match-day 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
