Aduana Stars' Communications Director, Evans Oppong, has attributed the club's underwhelming performance in the ongoing Ghana Premier League to the mass departure of players before the season began.

The two-time Premier League champions have endured a tough campaign, securing only two wins, six draws, and suffering four defeats so far. With just 12 points, the "Fire Boys" sit in 13th position on the league table.

Ahead of the season, Aduana Stars released 19 players and brought in new recruits, mainly from lower-tier clubs. Oppong believes this drastic squad overhaul has disrupted team cohesion, and the new players need time to settle.

“Our fans should be calm. We released 19 players and brought in replacements from the lower-tier clubs. Obviously, we are not going to get things as we want immediately. The players are new and will require time to settle at the club. With time, things will get better for us in the Ghana Premier League,” Oppong told Kessben FM.

Meanwhile, Aduana Stars have parted ways with head coach Yaw Acheampong following a series of poor results. The club's recent defeat to Kotoko proved to be the final blow to Acheampong’s tenure as coach of the two-time league winners.
