Coach James Kwesi Appiah, a member of Asante Kotoko's Interim Management Committee, has emphasized the club's commitment to avoiding complacency as they head into the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors, currently sitting third on the league table with 29 points, are set to face bottom-of-the-table Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Reflecting on their performance in the first round, Appiah acknowledged that the team encountered challenges but expressed confidence in their ability to learn from past mistakes and strive for improvement.

"We did not start on a good note. We will learn from our mistakes and do away with complacency," Appiah stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and intensity in the upcoming matches.

While refraining from making bold predictions about winning the league title, Appiah affirmed the team's determination to give their best effort, with the ultimate goal of securing positive results on the field.

“We will make sure the second round, we are going all out. I’ll not say we will win the title, but we will try to win”

“If we win the title, it’s a plus, if we don’t, as Otumfuo said we are building a team [for the future].”

As the Porcupine Warriors aim to build on their seven-game unbeaten streak from the first round, they are poised to continue their pursuit of success in the league standings.

With leaders FC Samartex holding a narrow lead, Asante Kotoko recognizes the importance of maintaining momentum and consistency as they strive to close the gap and remain competitive in the title race.
