Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has vowed that the club will not end the 2024/25 season empty-handed, insisting that winning a trophy is a non-negotiable goal for the Porcupine Warriors.
Opoku’s comments came after a standout display in Kotoko’s dominant 4-1 victory over Dreams FC on Matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League. The 24-year-old bagged a brace and an assist, helping his side close the gap to three points behind league leaders Nations FC with just three matches remaining.
Now sitting fourth with 54 points, Kotoko are firmly in the title race, and Opoku’s timely resurgence—10 goals in all competitions since his return to the club in December 2024—has been instrumental in their push for glory.
Speaking to the media after the match, Opoku made the team’s ambitions clear:
“We can’t go trophyless this season, no—it’s not happening,” he said. “We’re hoping that by the end of the season, we’ll lift a trophy. If not the league, then we must win the FA Cup for Asanteman.”
Kotoko are also through to the MTN FA Cup final, where they will face lower-tier side Golden Kick on June 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium. Victory would secure the club’s 10th FA Cup title and provide a major boost in their pursuit to restore domestic dominance.
With form, motivation, and silverware on the line, Opoku and Kotoko are determined to finish the season strong and deliver a trophy to their passionate Kumasi faithful.
