Asante Kotoko legend Opoku Nti believes the club squandered a chance to play in front of a packed Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium against Accra Lions by failing to secure a victory against Young Apostles in their last home game.
The much-anticipated clash with the newly promoted side is scheduled for October 6, 2024.
The match against Young Apostles, held on Sunday, marked Kotoko's first game at Obuasi following the closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for maintenance. Unfortunately, the Porcupine Warriors settled for a 1-1 draw in their Ghana Premier League match week three encounter.
“The love Asante Kotoko supporters have for the club is not known by many,” Nti expressed on Asempa FM after the game. “If the team had won against Young Apostles, the fans would have filled up the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in their next home match.”
He added, “What the fans don’t want is someone narrating how a good game transpired to them. Asante Kotoko supporters have the club at heart.”
As of now, Asante Kotoko sits sixth in the league with four points after two games, having won one and drawn another, with one match still to be played. The Porcupine Warriors are set to face Berekum Chelsea this coming weekend in match week four.
