Black Stars head coach Otto Addo expressed his disappointment following Ghana's 1-1 draw with Niger in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Speaking after the match, Addo highlighted the team's inability to capitalize on their second-half dominance and their failure to prevent Niger’s equalizer.

Addo shared that tactical adjustments were made during halftime, including changes in positioning and the buildup play, as well as new instructions for the wingers.

"Also in the second half we changed some positions and the buildup and also some restrictions to seize moments for our wingers. We had a different set up in the midfield, so it was good"

The tactical switch saw Ghana take control of the game in the second half, creating several scoring opportunities. However, the Black Stars were unable to convert those chances into goals. "In the second half we controlled them; we created a lot of chances which we didn't use. At the end, these kind of games are like this"

Despite Ghana's overall control, Niger proved to be resilient, especially on the counterattack. "There are no cheap teams, every team can play and Niger also did well, especially in their counter attacks. But I am very, very disappointed with the way we allowed our goals."

Ghana's draw with Niger leaves them winless in the qualifiers, and the team now faces the challenge of bouncing back in their upcoming games as they look to secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
