Ghana's U-15 head coach, Kwaku Danso is confident his team can become the third country to win the CAF African Schools Championship title.
Ghana is the third country hosting the tournament which was launched in 2022, following successful editions in South Africa and Tanzania.
The CAF African Schools Championship features Under-15 boys and girls teams from across Africa, and has been praised as a good platform for nurturing, and empowering young individuals to reach their full potential.
Ghana kicked off the competition - which started on Wednesday, April 23, on a promising start, defeating Uganda 2-0 in the boys' category.
In the girls category, the Ghana U15 side secured a 1-0 win over Morocco. Jennifer Awuku scored the only goal in the second half to hand Ghana a crucial victory, which saw 40-minute matches - 20 minutes per half.
"So we have prepared well , management have done their part ,we the technical team have done our part with the support of the Ghana Football Association. So I must say that the assurance is there," said Danso in a pre-tournament interview ahead of the competition.
"And we are promising that we would harness the trophy come the end of this competition."
The CAF African Schools Football Championship, introduced by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, remains the largest youth sport engagement program on the continent, having an effect on over 1.9 million boys and girls from 46 countries within the continent since its commencement.
