Angola's head coach, Pedro Goncalves, has expressed that Ghana faces a difficult journey to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they prepare for a pivotal Group F encounter.

The Black Stars, winless in their campaign thus far, sit third in the group with only two points, trailing both Angola’s Palancas Negras and Sudan.

Speaking ahead of the match set for Friday, November 15, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Goncalves acknowledged Ghana's storied legacy in African football while also noting the challenges that lie ahead for the team. “For us, playing against Ghana is always special,” Goncalves told Ghanasportspage. “Ghana is one of the best teams in African football, with exceptional players, especially in the midfield and attack.”

Despite Ghana’s formidable status, Goncalves believes their road to qualification is narrow. "While Ghana is undoubtedly a strong contender, their chances of qualifying are low at the moment. They not only have to win but also depend on Sudan, who need just one point from two games to secure their place. It’s a very tough challenge for Ghana."

The Black Stars completed their final training session on Tuesday and are scheduled to travel to Luanda later today, with the match marking a crucial test of their qualification hopes.
