Former Ghana international and Bibiani GoldStars head coach, Frimpong Manso, has called for a shift in attitude among Black Stars players, urging them to fully commit to the national cause.
His comments come as the team faces pressure following underwhelming performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
With only two points after four games, Ghana currently sits third in Group F and risks missing out on AFCON 2025 in Morocco. Manso believes a change in mentality is essential for the team to succeed.
"Black Stars need a change of attitude. As it stands, chances of qualifying for the AFCON are slim, but they’ll need to adjust their approach ahead of the World Cup qualifiers," Manso told Asempa FM.
He also urged the coaching staff to consider dropping players who seem to prioritize their club commitments over representing the national team. "Some players are clearly committed, but others appear lackadaisical and should be left out," he noted. "These players will also be part of the World Cup qualifiers, so we need drastic changes to refocus the team."
Ghana faces Angola on Friday, November 15, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro, followed by a final group match against Niger at Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.
To qualify for AFCON 2025, the Black Stars must win both games and hope Sudan falters in its remaining matches against Niger and Angola.
