Head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Nana Joe Adarkwa has confessed it was very painful after missing out narrowly in the final of the ongoing CAF Women's Champions League.
The 'Nana Mma' outfit after finishing as winners of Group B in the group phase, suffered a painful 3-2 loss on penalties to Moroccan side Sporting Club Casablanca in the semi final last Wednesday night in San Pedro, Cote D'Ivoire.
The game ended 2-2 after extra time, with Comfort Yeboah breaking the deadlock from the spot in just six minutes from kickoff. She scored into her own net to level things up for their opponents later in the game.
Jennifer Owusuwaa scored a Puskas-like goal ten minutes later to restore Ampem Darkoa's lead before Agueissa Diarra levelled the score in the second half once again from the spot.
Reacting to the defeat, Joe Nana Adarkwa stated they couldn't make good use of their chances and added by saying they will now shift their attention to the next game.
"It was a very complicated match which came down to penalties and unfortunately, we lost and it is very painful. It's very painful to lose but we have to boost the morale of the girls to play well in this last match. We had to count on penalties, and it was not easy. We had to take advantage of the opportunities and not wait for penalties," he said after the game.
The Ghanaian champions will face Moroccan giants ASFAR once again in the third-place playoff this Saturday.
The final is slated for Sunday between one-time champions Mamelodi Sundowns and debutants Sporting Club Casablanca.
