Ghana's Black Stars will closely monitor Sudan’s match against Niger at the Stade de Kégué in Togo, a pivotal game for Ghana's slim chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

After a disappointing AFCON qualifying campaign, the Black Stars find themselves in a precarious position. With two draws and two losses from their first four games, Ghana sits third in Group F with just two points.

Their qualification prospects were dealt a heavy blow last month after a 0-0 draw against Sudan at home and a 2-0 defeat in Libya. Now, they face the possibility of missing AFCON for the first time since 2004.

To qualify, Ghana needs to secure victories in their last two matches—against group leaders Angola and bottom-placed Niger. However, they also need Sudan, currently holding a favorable position, to stumble in their final games against these same teams. Sudan’s performance will be crucial in determining Ghana’s path forward, making the Niger-Sudan fixture on Thursday, November 14, essential to Ghana’s chances.

The Black Stars arrived in Luanda on Thursday, where they will face Angola on Friday, aiming to claim maximum points and keep their AFCON hopes alive as they await the outcomes of Sudan’s remaining matches.
