President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, says the governing body will wait for a final legal decision over the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations trophy dispute.

The issue centres on whether Senegal could be asked to return the trophy and medals, with Morocco linked to the case.

Speaking on the matter, Motsepe said CAF would not interfere and would instead respect the legal process.

“There’s nothing I can tell you that I haven’t said already, 10, 15, even 100 times. Ask me again 100 times and the answer will be the same. It’s my duty and obligation as CAF President,” he said.

He explained that the case is currently being handled by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which he described as the highest authority for resolving disputes in football.

“We have an obligation to respect the matter before CAS. For now, our focus must shift to the upcoming World Cup,” he added.

Motsepe’s comments highlight CAF’s position of waiting for due process, while also turning attention to preparations for the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

The final decision from CAS is expected to determine the outcome of the dispute.
