Evelyn Nsiah Asare has implored CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe to expand the squad size for women’s clubs from the WAFU Zone B region in international tournaments.
The CEO of Hasaacas Ladies and Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), made known her request following Dr. Patrice Motsepe uncontested re-election at the ongoing 14th CAF Extraordinary Congress in Cairo, Egypt.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Hasaacas Ladies, increasing the limit from 28 to 35 players would considerably reduce the burden on clubs, enabling them to efficiently manage fatigue and ensure the players are sharp and in good condition during major competitions.
"If you are going to a competition and they ask you to bring only 7 technical, and that’s what they are going to sponsor and 21 players," Nsiah Asare told Channel One Sports.
"I want to plead to CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, I salute you again because you are doing very well, please if you can make it 35, it will help us.
"You just make it 35 for us, so that management, three or four slots and then the players and technical you increase it small up to 35, I don’t think it will take much money from CAF.
"You go to WAFU, they have given you 21 players but you have gone there with 25 players because it’s a tournament, and injury can set in and then technical seven, what are we talking about," she quizzed.
Motsepe's reappointment signals continuity in efforts to strengthen African football on the global stage, with an increased focus on infrastructure development, financial transparency, and grassroots investment.
As CAF looks ahead to upcoming tournaments, and the expansion of club competitions, Motsepe’s leadership is expected to play a key role in shaping the continent’s footballing future.
