The draw for the group stage of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Thursday afternoon.
The 48 teams were split into 12 groups of four, with the reigning champions Cote d'Ivoire drawn into Group G alongside Zambia, Sierra Leone, and Chad.
The Elephants will be confident of securing a ticket from Group G to the next finals in Morocco, which will be held in December 2025 and January 2026.
Other notable groups include Group B featuring hosts Morocco against Gabon, Central African Republic, and Lesotho, while seven-time AFCON champions Egypt will face Cape Verde, Mauritania, and Botswana in Group C.
Ghana have been drawn in Group F alongside Angola, Sudan, and Niger, while Cameroon must overcome Namibia, Kenya, and Zimbabwe in Group J.
Senegal, the champions of the 2021 edition, find themselves in Group L against Burkina Faso, Malawi, and Burundi.
The group stage of the qualifiers will be played in the international windows in September, October, and November of this year. The top two teams in each group will secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON.
