Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu proudly embraces the title of "mummy’s boy," attributing much of his success to the unwavering support and sacrifices made by his mother throughout his life.

Reflecting on his challenging upbringing, Seidu acknowledged the hardships his mother endured to provide for him and his siblings.

"My mum suffered a lot. I saw her suffering a lot to get something for us to eat," he shared with Flashscore. "My motivation is to put a smile on my mother’s face. She always fought for us to have what we need. Sometimes there is nothing to eat, but when you see her putting so much effort to ensure we get something to eat, I can’t forget that."

Seidu's journey to success was not without its obstacles. He faced multiple rejections while trying out for the JMG Academy but persevered and eventually earned his place there. It was at the academy that he honed his skills, leading to a move to France where he established himself in Ligue 1.

He began his career at Clermont, where he shone in the B team before being promoted to the senior squad. Now, as a key player for Rennes, Seidu's market value has soared to 9 million euros, reflecting his consistency and contributions to both his club and the national team.

With 17 appearances and one goal for the Black Stars, Seidu, who was part of Ghana's squad at the 2022 World Cup finals, remains an integral part of the team's future as they pursue success on the international stage.
