Black Leopards' new Ghanaian coach, Maxwell Konadu, has revealed that he draws significant inspiration from Pitso Mosimane, one of Africa’s most successful football coaches.
Konadu, who recently signed a three-year contract with Black Leopards after a successful tenure at Nsoatreman, expressed his admiration for Mosimane, the South African coaching legend known for his remarkable achievements in football. “I respect Pitso so much, and he’s been my role model for some time. I chat with him sometimes...I’ve been following him a lot,” Konadu said in an interview with SowetanLive.
Mosimane's illustrious career includes 19 major trophies. His achievements with SuperSport United include the Coca-Cola Cup and the SAA Top 8 trophy. At Mamelodi Sundowns, he secured 5 league titles, 2 Telkom Knockout Cups, 2 Nedbank Cups, the 2016 CAF Champions League, and the CAF Super Cup. During his time with Al Ahly, he won 2 CAF Champions League titles, the Egyptian Cup, and 2 CAF Super Cups. Most recently, he captured the Saudi Arabian First Division title with Al Ahli, becoming the only South African coach to win a major trophy outside Africa.
Konadu's appointment as Black Leopards' coach is seen as a new beginning for the team, which has been striving to regain their top-flight status since their relegation in the 2019/20 season.
