Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak earlier this mid-afternoon went toe to toe with ten-time Togolese champions AC Semassi FC in a preseason friendly at the Stade Municipal de Sokodé- in a game they won by 1-3 after full time.
This happens to be the 'Phobians' first game since arriving in Togo about a week ago for pre-season and was a very tough exercise even though they emerged victors.
The opening minutes of the game was difficult for the two sides who preferred to keep without any attacks as they both had little information on the style of play of each other.
However, Hearts of Oak finally broke the deadlock on the 40th minute through Asamoah Boateng Afriyie- who just joined them this summer from Nations FC.
Martin Karikari five minutes, later doubled the lead for the Ghanaians to give them a two-goal cushion at half time.
In the second half, AC Semassi FC looked much more improved than they started and pulled one back in the dying embers of the game. Few moments after finding the back net, Isaac Frimpong scored to restore their two-goal lead as it finished 1-3 after full time.
Coach Aboubakar Ouattara definitely picked some positives from the game and will look to work on the few loopholes in the team.
Hearts of Oak's pre-season continues in Togo as they hope to take on current Togo champions ASKO Kara before they wrap up their tour in the West African country.
