Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, Dr. Tony Aubynn believes it is unnecessary for the country's football governing body to apologize for Black Stars' unimpressive performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars of Ghana failed to qualify from the group stages of the tournament after losing 2-0 in their last group H fixture against Uruguay.

Ghana managed to record only one win against South Korea and suffered defeats to Portugal and Uruguay.

However, the Medeama SC board member disagrees with people calling on the Ghana Football Association to apologize to the nation for the early elimination of the four-time Africa champions from the 2022 World Cup.

I will not speak for the GFA on whether to apologise or not but personally, this is a World Cup we failed to qualify in the past years,” Dr. Aubynn told Kumasi-based radio station Akoma FM in an interview

“In our previous participation at the World Cup, two were successful and the other two including this one didn’t go well. We just have to learn from our mistakes and avoid the talk of whether to apologise to Ghanaians or not,”

Dr. Aubynn insisted that former World champions Uruguay and Germany, were booted out of the ongoing tournament at 2022 World Cup which makes it needless to call on the Football Association's apologize.

“The materials available was what the coaches used, the FA did everything right (via motivation), we just didn't do well. Will the Germany also apologize for their exit?"

“Because people tipped them(Germany) as favorite but were eliminated, they told themselves it's a building process same as Morocco. We just need to give our players the needed time since we are building,"

Following the Black Stars' elimination from , Ghana coach Otto Addo has resigned from his position and a new head coach is expected to be announced in the coming months.
