Ghana and Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has shared insight into his preferred position on the pitch, revealing that although he is capable of playing anywhere in attack, he feels most comfortable operating from the wings.
Speaking on the AllOutFootball Podcast, the 26-year-old detailed his tactical flexibility and how his football journey has seen him transition through multiple roles.
“I can play everywhere to be fair. I started off as a nine, a midfielder, went back to nine and winger now, but I can play everywhere to be fair,” Semenyo explained.
When asked by former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott where he enjoys playing most, Semenyo was clear in his preference: “Right and left.”
The Ghana international has been in impressive form this season, scoring 15 Premier League goals and establishing himself as a key attacking option for manager Pep Guardiola. His ability to switch between central and wide positions has made him an important tactical asset.
Beyond his club form, Semenyo also reflected on Manchester City’s title ambitions and expressed concern over the injury setback to fellow Ghana international Mohammed Kudus, whose availability for the 2026 FIFA World Cup remains uncertain.
Despite those wider discussions, Semenyo’s focus remains on his own role and adaptability. With the World Cup approaching, the forward insists he is ready to contribute wherever needed for the Ghana national football team — though his preference, as he made clear, remains out wide where he feels most effective.
