FC Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu has expressed frustration over his team’s missed opportunities in their 2-2 draw against Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.
Samartex, the Ghana Premier League champions, hosted Raja Casablanca at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday with hopes of a strong start.
Despite taking the lead, they were unable to maintain their advantage, allowing the visitors to equalize and secure a draw.
Reflecting on the match, Amadu acknowledged his team’s failure to capitalize on key chances: “I’m not a happy person, but I think we didn’t disgrace ourselves. The equalizer in the second half was a gift to them because we didn’t defend well in that situation. We were wasteful in front of goal, and that cost us.”
Looking ahead to the return leg in Morocco next weekend, Amadu remains hopeful and determined: “We are aware that even minor mistakes can be punished at this level. Now we are going to fight because I have seen how they play. I will strategize for the away game. We will aim to be resilient and fight them there.”
With the stage set for a crucial second leg, FC Samartex will need to make significant improvements to advance to the next round of the competition.
